WHOIS Lookup

Look up the public registration record of a .com name: the registrar, the dates, the status codes and the nameservers. Owner contact details are not shown.

No sign-up. Your browser does a few seconds of work first, so bots cannot use up the free allowance.

Registration facts only: registrar, dates, status codes, nameservers and DNSSEC. Owner and contact details are not shown, and many registrars redact them anyway. Data comes from a third-party WHOIS service and can be up to a day old. Look-ups are limited per visitor and per day to keep this free tool available for everyone.

Questions about the WHOIS Lookup

What does the WHOIS lookup show?

The registrar, when the .com was registered, last changed and expires, its status codes (such as transfer locks), its nameservers and whether DNSSEC is on.

Why is the owner not shown?

We only show registration facts. Owner and contact details are personal data, and most registrars redact them anyway.

Why does my browser do some work first?

The free allowance is small and shared, so each look-up needs a few seconds of work from your browser. That keeps bots from using it up. There is no sign-up and no email.

Why did it say the allowance is used up?

Look-ups are limited per visitor and per day. Names that someone looked up in the last day are served from a saved copy and always work. Otherwise try again later or tomorrow.
